Don Mattess – Fire Chief
Don Mattess is our Fire Chief for Tl’azt’en Nation. He has been the Fire Chief since 2007 and a volunteer since 2001. He has a dedicated, hard working group of volunteers on the Dept and is very appreciative for all the hard work that they all do, and wouldn’t be able to do the things we do without any one of them. They offer services such as chimney cleaning, controlled burning, home safety inspections, smoke alarm installations, fire drills and training with FNESS (First Nations Emergency Services Society). Don says he owes a majority of his knowledge and dedication to the people that introduced him to the Fire Dept. Which were the following people: The late and long time Fire Chief Robert Hanson and the late Jerome Mattess. These two people were a big influence in him becoming the Fire Chief for Tl’azt’en Nation. Musi to all the present and past Volunteers of the Tache Volunteer Fire Department, the would not be where we are today if it wasn’t for all of your well deserved help.
