The Tl’azt’en Nation Health Centre has an opening for three (3) on call drivers a mix of male and female. The drivers will be available on call to provide transportation to and from Fort St. Jame for clients who do not have a vehicle of their own and access to another ride on an as needed basis. The driver will be required to travel to take clients to out-of-town appointments or to points of transportation like the airport. The successful applicant will be kind, courteous and respectful, able to maintain the vehicle, ie gas up etc. Able to maintain and respect the client’s privacy will be briefed on a need-to-know basis and will keep information confidential.

• Have a minimum class 5 driver’s license

• Have a clean drivers abstract

• Be professional and courteous

• Be hired directly by the patient travel clerk or designate for each job

• Be able to pass a vulnerable sector criminal record check

• Be physically able to lift and bend as many of your clients are elderly.

• Be available with minimal notice often less than three days

• Be willing to drive long distances and be away from home for several days as needed

• Be willing to act as a chaperone when required, which may require some personal care assistance. Help with wheelchairs etc.

• Ensure that all clients are buckled in and in the appropriate seating i.e. baby seat etc.

• Be responsible and mature

• Be confident in transporting clients who may have addiction issues to and from treatment Centres.

• Preference will be given to those who have a first aid ticket

The successful applicant will be paid a wage of $25.00 per hour for a maximum of 12 hours per day for travel out of town depending on the location. The applicant will be provided with a well-maintained company vehicle when traveling and all reasonable and agreed expenses will be either paid or reimbursed with receipts. This might suit a seasonally employed or semi-retired individual. The applicant should submit all the required documentation at the time of application. This is a short-term on-call contract and does not qualify for employment benefits or any guaranteed hours.
