Join Our Team as a Regional Coordinator for Community Relations!

The First Nations Technology Council is excited to announce contract opportunities for Regional Coordinators across three dynamic regions – Nechako, Vancouver Island/Coast, and Kootenay. This role is a unique chance to support the co-creation of bright digital futures for First Nations communities by enhancing digital equity and transformation across BC.

About the Role

As a Regional Coordinator, you will play a key role in the External Relations team by:

  • Advising on best practices for engaging local communities, including understanding cultural protocols and identifying key contacts.
  • Facilitating outreach initiatives that promote engagement opportunities, digital skills training, research reports, and more.
  • Building and nurturing positive relationships with community leaders and partners in your region.
  • Supporting the Technology Council’s mission to advance digital literacy and improve internet connectivity for all 204 First Nations in the province.

What We’re Looking For

Ideal candidates will bring:

  • At least 1 year of proven success in project coordination, event planning, communications, or community engagement.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities – both verbal and written.
  • A social media savvy approach, coupled with a solid digital communication toolkit (email, phone, and internet).
  • A deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and community dynamics within your respective region.
  • Local networks and ideally, residency in one of the communities within your designated region.

Position Details

  • Contract Term: 6 months (renewable based on performance and available funding)
  • Hours: Ranges from 2 to 15 hours per month (averaging 6 hours per month)
  • Compensation: $45.00 per hour
  • Location: This is a remote role open to candidates anywhere in BC.
